Killie Fans Take a Bow
Killie Ball 2007? IT IS incredible to think that it’s fast approaching a year since we held the hugely successful Killie Ball 2005. We’ve had umpteen folk asking us if we were doing it again this year but unfortunately we have just been too busy with other Killie related business. The event was only a huge success thanks to the hard work done beforehand, especially by our friends at Klin Homes. Of course we’d love to do it all again and all things being equal we’ll try and organise another event next year. You don’t need reminding that 2007 will be the 10th anniversary of our famous cup win so we suspect the troops will be in the mood for partying. We’ll need to speak to several people to see if it is feasible but rest assured we will try our utmost to run the ball again. It may well be that the event can come under the auspices of the Killie Trust….watch this space.
Best Wishes Simon OVER the course of the season we have been fairly lucky with avoiding injuries to our first team squad. Gary Locke has had his fair share but generally speaking we have managed to field the hard core of important players. Our luck had to change at some point and Simon Ford was the man who suffered the misfortune of a nasty looking injury. Simon stayed down after an awkward looking challenge on the touch line and it appears he may have some ligament damage to his knee. These injuries can often take a few months to clear up but on the positive side Simon will have the summer months to rest and get back to full fitness. Hopefully the final diagnosis is not as serious as it first looked and we’d like to wish Simon a full and speedy recovery.
Ayrshire Champions Again WITH our county neighbours languishing in the lower regions of Division Two it may well be a long time before we face them again on league business. Killie fans need their local derby ‘fix’ however, so we were delighted to hear that both sets of fans had organised a game against each other last Sunday morning. Our fan’s team, Killie IFC, has been quiet in recent months but hopefully they will be back in their full glory next season. The game was played at the King George V pitches with a 10:30 kick off…we can’t believe some of our lot would have sobered up from the Aberdeen sojourn by that time! There was no need to worry as our makeshift team gubbed the A*r lads 4 – 2. Hero for the day was John McLauchlan who bagged himself a hat trick whilst Gary Larman got the other.
Grab A Bargain IT’S no secret that Killie are introducing new home and away strips for next season…..the away strip could be hitting the Killie shop in the next few weeks. The good news is that the current away strip is almost sold out at the shop and Josie is practically giving away the tops at £10 a time. The strip isn’t available in all sizes but get yourself along to see if you can grab a bargain. We were in the shop last week and our eye was taken by a magnificent looking Killie beach towel. The huge blue and white striped towel will look fantastic on those Spanish beaches however you will need to wait until June before you can buy one...the towel we saw was only a sample! There is a wide range of tops, shorts etc currently on sale so pay Josie a visit and she’ll sort out your summer wardrobe.
