Over But Not Out

The end of the B&H column in the Standard is probably not as dramatic as the end of an era but it sure as hell feels like it to us. Over three years and 186 articles later we just can't get out of the habit so we've decided to continue with the online version meantime and already secured a new sponsor who should appear at the bottom of your screens next week. The format may change slightly, as we can now put in as little or as much as we like, and of course there are no lawyers checking every word we write.

We had found it necessary to repeat some of the stuff from the website for the readers who were not online as well but now there is no need to do that...which can be a good and a bad thing for us if there is not much happening! We hope that you’ll stick with us in our continued efforts to promote all things Killie from a fan’s point of view. The Killie Trust, the Killie Lotto, the Young Killie, the killiefc.com website, the Killie Hippo fanzine and last but not least our Killie sponsored kid in Africa (Walter) will still be getting our support…and hopefully yours.

'Hun'cuffed To Loonies

Kid Goal's last minute equalising penalty (right) against the forces of darkness was no more than we deserved on Sunday; but you'd never think it by reading the papers or watching the so-called SPL highlights on Monday night. Even the huns at work are bleating on about how they hammered us and how lucky we were to escape with a draw...but then again the majority of them can only go on what they see on the telly, typical old firm fans who have a TV Guide instead of a season ticket. they think a game lasts fifteen minutes unless it’s on a Sunday!

To be fair Rangers did have a lot of chances (not our problem if Prso is a big diddy) but then again if the referee awarded even half of the legitimate penalty claims we had then the score could have been 5-5 at the end up. Not exactly the one-sided affair the press hacks would have us believe. We battled from the first whistle and proved at long last in front of the watching world that we are least a match for one half of the twisted sisters. We are notorious for getting bad results when our games are televised so it was great to think that due to a certain Mr Naismith there would have been a far larger amount of football punters watching than normal.

Another common misconception is that there is less trouble at games against Rangers than there is against Celtic. We think Sunday would put paid to that notion. There were several bouts of violence throughout the town involving huns who obviously can’t take losing points to ‘the likes of us’. The Howard nearly had the gantry put in and our mate Tam was ‘bottled’ and ended up at the hospital getting stitches in his head. There is just no excuse for behaviour like that and we feel sorry for the decent old firm fans (yes they are in the minority but they do exist) who have to suffer due to the actions of the scum element who are a blight on the Scottish game.

We read in the paper today that Rangers are getting plaudits for cleaning up their act of late…whit? Are the guys from UEFA’s lugs painted on? Surely footage from Rugby Park on Sunday is enough for the bigwigs to get the huns bang to rights and disciplinary procedures which have been threatened should be brought into effect. Then again, maybe they wouldn’t sound so loud if our board didn’t cave in to them at every juncture and allow them to take over our stadium. Yes, of course we need money, but surely the time has come for us to stop dropping our pants and bending over for the old firm every time they breeze into town? Give them one stand…advertise the fact that the club are making a pro-Killie stance and need support to back it…and watch the Killie fans come back.

Transfer Frenzy

Killie have never had so many column inches in the tabloids with ‘Kid Goals’ Naisy heading to London to show Thierry Henry a thing or two. Stewarton's finest is a credit to himself, his family and the club and we are sure he'll make the correct decision for everyone involved. We fancy he'll be going nowhere at this transfer window so hopefully he'll grace the Theatre of Pies for a while yet. Just think how much he’ll be worth when he’s topping the SPL goal-scoring charts…if that trumpet Petrov is worth £6.5million then maybe our money problems could soon be over!

You may remember in a previous B&H (when it appeared in the Old Firm News), that we interviewed JJ. We asked him about the left back position as we had no cover at all for Hooky. JJ stated Greer had played there last season and had done well so it didn’t seem to be a problem, and failing that Leven could fill in. That's not the impression we get from the Killie faithful and it's nice to see he has taken what we said on board…aye right! We have signed 21-year-old Ian Campbell (not 41 as Mr Allan Auld seems to think) from Dunfermline and we'd like to wish him all the very best during his stay at Killie.

Attention all Exiles

Killiefc.com provides a fantastic service for all exiled Killie fans that are desperate to keep up-to-date with all Killie news…hopefully the B&H column is informative too. Many exiles are frustrated at missing the games but are still keen to help in any other way, well here's a suggestion. The Killie Trust is rapidly on an upward curve but there are relatively few exiles currently signed-up. That's a situation we intend to change and we'll be getting literature out all and sundry. If you are an exile why not sign up straight away? Visit the website at www.killietrust.org or drop us an e-mail at communications@killietrust.org and we'll get you sorted out. We are also looking into a secure payment system that can be accessed online with a credit/debit card instead of all this Paypal nonsense, but it may be a wee while before we get it operational so please bear with us.
