Killie Till I Die - New Fanzine Campaign

Tuesday 5th December 6.30am and we're driving into work half asleep as usual. Alan Brazil is on the radio and the breaking news is that one of the world’s richest families, the Maktoums, look like taking over ownership at Liverpool FC. Our initial reaction was why choose buckfast and kebabs in Merseyside when you can have champagne and Brownings Pies in Killieshire? Of course the Premiership is very high profile but how long will it be before some slightly poorer billionaires turn their attention to Scotland?

Your average SPL fan will look at the Hearts situation at the moment and tell you they wouldn’t entertain any money from the Eastern bloc. That maybe so…but Killie are also in the position where one man has total control and it is not a healthy situation, especially when they have no personal wealth.

It may well be that the Scottish scene is not high profile enough for some of these rich dudes however buying clubs is probably just a ‘play thing’ for many and there are only so many English clubs they can invest in. All of which eventually leads us on to the situation at Killie, we all know about the huge debt so we won’t bore you with the detail. We constantly point out the deficiencies of our two (maybe one) man board and how they have failed to generate any serious money from fresh investors. The bottom line is at some stage we are going to need substantial investment and with the current board not having any success on this front perhaps our only hope is for a rich Arab or Russian to head for the land of the pie. It's a risky strategy and one that could end in disaster however as Hearts fans are finding out, it's all out with their control.

The bottom line is we want the club to be here forever and a day so maybe it's time for the fans to get out there and attract the right people. We'll be launching a new Killie Hippo campaign in the New Year called "Killie Till I Die" and it's something that everyone can join in. We'll be looking worldwide to attract the right people to Killie and we'll have a hoot along the way. We'll be writing to some world famous individuals and companies and if we get one positive response out of a hundred, we've won a watch. Our motto is "if you don't ask you don't get" so look out for the full details early in the New Year.

Howard Buses To Morton

Before we know it the Scottish Cup will be upon us as we head to Greenock on 6th January. It's a great feeling to be playing the Scottish Cup whilst still looking forward to a semi final in the CIS Cup…the treble is still on! The Scottish Cup always brings out the fans and there will be buses running from many pubs, clubs etc - send us the details and we'll be happy to publicise them.

Two buses will leave the Howard for Greenock however you need to pre-book your seat. Simply go into the pub, pay for your seat (£6/£3) and look forward to a great day out. Details of any other buses going (the Garage bus for a kick off) will appear on the ‘Planes, trains & Automobiles’ area of the Killie Kickback forums…where you should find details every week should you wish to travel with them.
