B&H Bite Back

We are trying hard to remember the last close season when the once mighty Glasgow Rangers were not trying to steal our best young players on the cheap…but the more time that passes the hard it is getting. The target this time of course is not only our best young player, but arguably the best young player in Scotland…with the awards and the track record to prove it. Yet the representatives of Glasgow’s most tight-fisted club do not rate him highly enough to put in an offer of anywhere near what the market value is. With Kid Goals reportedly looking for first team football when he eventually moves on we hope he takes note of their low opinion.

As if the prospect of losing one of our best players is not enough, we now have to face a barrage of bad publicity from the old firm friendly press corps, who are doing their utmost to try and unsettle Naisy and convince everyone who is willing to buy their excuses of newspapers that the world will end if he does not sign for league runners-up Rangers. These articles have been full of insinuation, half-truths and made up nonsense…akin to the BBC Scotland’s Chick Young fabricated story about the boy having a £1.5million release clause in his contract. Of course that won’t stop the gullible masses taking it all in, why should it? We should be able to pick up any newspaper and take what they say as the unbiased truth…sadly though that is not the case.

Today we have Scotland turncoat Walter ‘what’s a contract?’ Smith having an extremely thinly-veiled dig at Killie in the tabloids regards the comments being made to the press about the transfer dealings. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Mr Smith wants to look a lot closer to home when it comes to club representatives releasing news to the press. All the details that have come out so far have been ‘leaked’ by sources from within his own camp to try and gain an unfair advantage in negotiations…any comments coming forth from the Theatre of Pies have been in response to this. If you can’t take it Mr Smith then we suggest you do not dish it out. And furthermore if you cannot play fair then we suggest you don’t play at all. Take your petted lip and go and annoy someone who cares, though we doubt you’ll find many.

He says: “If Kilmarnock came back to us we would consider renewing our offer, but it would depend on the situation”. We say: “Don’t hold your breath you old goat”. The way the Rangers back room team have represented their club has been nothing short of a disgrace and their fans are more frustrated with their shenanigans than by anything Killie have done. Likewise some of the so-called experts in the papers having their say. Who can forget the classic from Murdo ‘hit on the head by a ball and never recovered’ McLeod that football clubs do not pay for potential? We could go on forever about that but suffice to say two words…Theo Walcott.

All Killie want is a fair price for a great player they have trained, brought through the ranks and given the chance to shine. If this doesn’t happen then the clubs from provincial towns may as well stop training kids and just pack everything in right now. As it stands the fans of every other team in Scotland are more worried about Murray Park not producing the goods than the Rangers fans! They complain about no competition in the SPL and in the same breath try and steal all the young talent from their rivals for peanuts. They fully expect every other team in the league just to roll over the minute they want something or someone and let them have it then claim to be ‘disgusted’ if they dare to say no.

Kilmarnock Chairman Michael Johnson (right) has quite rightly drawn the proverbial line in the sand, as it is his right to draw it. He is quite willing to accept the fact that Naisy will move on at some stage but also sees that unless we are adequately compensated he is worth more to us at Rugby Park than scoring goals for one of our nearest rivals. Surely even the dim-wits calling the shots at Ibrox Stadium can understand that? Time to pull in that petted lip Herr Schmitt and put your money where you mouth is. Stop talking crap and start talking cash and you’ll have a much better chance of signing some real talent…and just think how much Rangers spent on Sebo!
