B&H Promise

Thanks to everyone who has contacted us about the B&H articles. For one reason or another we've stopped doing them over the last few months but it's time once again to get our fat butts in gear. We will put out a column whenever we have enough stuff (and we're sober) so you can expect one every six months! As always we'll try to keep it fresh and original but we're always glad to get articles from all Killie fans. Our exiled fans features are always popular plus we'll try and throw in a few exclusives although that's very difficult in this day and age. Welcome back to the column that grew too popular for the Kilmarnock Standard and here's some nonsense to kick off...

Peterhead

It was nice to hear Billy Brown thanking the healthy number of Killie fans who sacrificed cash, time and marriages to make the long trip north last Tuesday night. BB reckoned there were around 500 fans, we counted 1,000 but to be fair we were seeing double by 7pm!

The Garage lads ran a 76 seat bus so well done to them....we know very well how hard it is to run a bus like that. The Howard minibus made the journey, a minor miracle in itself, and a fantastic time was had by all. We made a night of it and stayed at the impressive Waterside Inn situated a mile along from the ground. We stopped at a wee shop on the outskirts of Peterhead and the newspaper poster impressively plugged the big game.....so we acquired it for the back window.

Kevin C did a fine job in driving us there in record time though journey time would have been halved if we didn't have "comfort stops". The hotel was a shade upmarket for the Howard troops i.e. it had a roof, however prices were a touch pricey. Big Aldo is still in shock at having to cough up £30 for a tray of sandwiches with a packet of Golden Wonder crisps dumped in the middle. We hope YNTTK doesn't read this or he may start thinking in terms of price hikes.

The team helped make it a memorable night by putting in a thoroughly professional performance and never looking in any danger...apart from the mini pitch invasion by bladdered Killie fans after the third goal. (In what turned out to be Naisy's final goal for the club). The draw for the next round is Monday 3rd at 2pm but we're hoping for a home draw. Our finances are still recovering and the thought of having to fork out for more sandwiches could send Aldo over the edge.

Time To Move On

We've followed the fortunes of Naisy since he burst into the reserves as a young 16 year old who showed a bit of potential. It soon became apparent the wee man was a bit special and we christened him "Kid Goals" as he found the pokey on a regular basis. He showed a great appetite for the game and improved at a rate of knots that we've never seen before for a lad of his age.

It was no surprise when he quickly reached first team squad status and even JJ, who takes it easy with youngsters, soon played him week in week out. Again it was no surprise when Naisy's performances caught the eye of many clubs and his trial at Arsenal received huge media coverage.

His move to Ibrox is disappointing but not surprising. He appears to have been poorly advised and there's no doubt another year playing regular first team football at Killie was his best option. The whole affair was handled in a very amateurish manner by Rangers, Killie and the agent and you'll probably hear the "real story" in the near future.

For all Killie fans it's simply time to move on as Naisy is just a very small cog in the big wheel that is Kilmarnock FC. Players, managers and chairman come and go and none of them are anywhere near as important as the club itself. We're sure Naisy will have a long and highly successful career (hopefully down south) and we look forward to cheering him in a Scotland jersey for many years to come.

Finally we can shoot down rumours that Sir David Murray is closing down Murray Park and taking over the Killie youth system...that's a job for the Killie Trust!!

Empty Seats

Apart from the disappointing result against the Dons it was very worrying to see a very low turn out in the hospitality. We went to the Park Suite in the pre-season game against Leicester and would recommend it to anyone who can afford to shell out the cash. The club has recently brought in a couple of new folk to help with this type of thing so to see lots of empty seats is a real worry. This is yet another example of the club losing lots of money due to the previous cut backs and it's time we reversed the trend.
