Killie swept aside hapless Dunfermline to leave the Pars
languishing at the foot of the SPL, and record their biggest win of the
season.
Colin Nish and Paul Di Giacomo had returned to Killie's starting 11 in place of
the injured Gary Wales and dropped Peter Leven to the bench.
New Dunfermline boss Stephen Kenny had brought in Stephen Simmons and
Greg Ross in place of the injured Darren Young and Aaron Labonte.
But the visitors looked all at sea as Kilmarnock took the lead from
the first real chance of the game after just seven minutes.

A
Garry Hay corner picked out Greer in front of goal and he left
goalkeeper Dorus De Vries with no chance with the close-range header.
However in the post match, it was declared that Hay's
corner was never touched by anyone en route to the back of the Pars
net... so it was/is "Hooky's" goal!
But Dunfermline refused to buckle under Kilmarnock's early pressure
and were back on level terms with 11 minutes on the clock.
An Owen Morrison cut-back found Crawford and he slotted past
goalkeeper Graeme Smith.

But
Kilmarnock had their noses back in front after 18 minutes when Hay
played a neat one-two with Nish before setting up Di Giacomo
for the shot. A great Killie move, and a great Killie goal!
Paul
Di Giacomo (left) had his name on the scoresheet again in the
25th minute, sending a low right-footed long-range effort past the
goalkeeper.
Killie strengthened their lead two minutes later.
A
Wright header was pushed on to the bar by De Vries, but Colin
Nish (left) was lurking in front of goal to bundle home the
rebound.
Dunfermline made their first change of the game after 30 minutes,
swapping forward Freddie Daquin for defender Bamba.
But
Bamba was dismissed 11 minutes into the second half for a foul on
Naismith. (right)
And Fraser Wright headed over from the resulting free-kick. A chorus of "you`re no very good" echos around from the home
support, & there not wrong.
Simmons tested Killie goalkeeper Smith with a drive from 25 yards.
But
it was Killie who had the final say when Colin Nish drove
home from six yards following a Hay free-kick after 72 minutes.
Jim Jefferies on the Pars
Post
Match... "You
have to be delighted to win any game 5-1. We started the game well and,
even though we lost the equaliser, we picked ourselves up. We had other
opportunities but you would take that scoreline any day of the week. (On
Killie’s First Goal) I think we will all have to wait to see it on the
television. But I don't really care who is claiming it - I was just
happy to see it go in. I was particularly happy to see Jacko make the
most of his start. I also thought Hooky and Alan Johnston were
magnificent for us!”
