Kilmarnock played their centenary
match on April 12th 1969 at
Rugby Park
Eintracht Fankfurt were selected as the opposition, as they represented
Killie's most famous European opponents Killie had beaten Eintracht some 5
years earlier 5-4 on
aggreagate, in the Fais Cities Cup, in Killie's first European cup tie.
On the field Scottish Television's Bill Tennent introduced dozens of fo
rmer
Killie players to the crowd,
All players with more than 5 years of service, or had played in the
1920 or 1929
cup winning sides were invited.
From the 1920 side were Shortt, McNaught &
McPhail, and Williamson & Cunningham for the 1929 side.
Before the game a special publication was issued "Go Fame", a
Kilmarnock Football Club history, which was written by football writer and
Killie fan Hugh Taylor.
