Ally Mitchell 1991-2003
Full Name: Alistair Robert
Mitchell
Nickname: Bully

Date of Birth: 3rd February
1968
Birthplace: Kirkcaldy
Height: 5ft 7ins
Weight: 11st 9lbs
Former Clubs: East Fife
Signed KFC: 5th July 1991
Ally Mitchell arrived in 1991 from East Fife for the princely sum of
£100,000 which, ten years and over 400 appearances later
seems to be a bit
of a bargain! Always versatile, Ally has played in nearly every position at
some stage in his Killie career
but is mainly utilised as an attacking
midfielder. Not many players in this day and age stay with one club for so
long but Ally has never given any manager (and he' had his share of them !!)
any reason to dispense with his services. A great favourite with the
fans due to his willingness to cover every blade of grass for the cause and
the fact that he always gives 110% when selected. Successfully saw off the challenge
of the 'other' Super Ally and stays no.1 in our hearts. A genuine Killie
legend and the last of the 1997 Scottish Cup winners. Ally was released on
Jan 17th 2003, so he could resume regular first team football with St
Mirren.
On the day of his release from Killie the official
website indicated the following club message...."We'd like to thank Bully
for his unrelenting service over the years, His exit brings great sadness,
but proud and fond memories, too."

Jim Jefferies on Ally's departure...
"I spoke to Ally and
he felt a lot of the players he played alongside here had moved on
already. I said I would use him here and there and left it up to him.
I said that if he did not get anything else, he would be a part of the
squad right until the end of the season.
"I recall playing
Killie (in 97 while manager of Hearts) when I'd just gone to Hearts
and Ally was outstanding. I made an inquiry but was told he wasn't for
sale."
Ally on Leaving...
"Of course it's strange to leave Kilmarnock,
especially with younger players coming through there, said, the
veteran who joined St Mirren on Friday.
"It wasn't a shock to leave in the end,
especially as I wasn't getting
a game. It was the right time for me to go."

winning team.
Most Famous Goal: May 2nd 1998 Rangers (A). His goal
helped Killie qualify for Europe, while stopping Rangers attempt at "10 in a
row" league titles.

Bully on that May 1998 Ibrox Goal...
"I
still talk to people
who tell me they can remember exactly
where they were and what they were doing when I scored. You don't realise
how many people are affected by something like that. Celtic drew at
Dunfermline the next day so our win effectively cost Rangers 10 in a row,
which makes it easily the most important goal I've ever scored. The whole
10-in-a-row thing tended to overshadow the fact that we were also going for
a place in Europe and we got that result for Kilmarnock Football Club, not
Celtic or Rangers"

the very best for the future!
