Do You Remember ?

David Bagan 1995-1999

DAVID BAGAN was a member of our 1997  Scottish Cup  Kilmarnock glory.

Back in May 1997, the red headed winger helped parade the trophy in an open-topped bus through crowded streets in the Ayrshire town. (1996-97 Cup Win)

That triumph was the icing on the cake of his glorious debut season in the SPL.

After that, Bagan could have been forgiven for thinking his career was going to be one long silverware trail.

But impressive games against the Old Firm, five Scotland Under-21 caps and frequent rave reviews from Bobby Williamson and Craig Brown proved no guarantee of success thereafter.

Five years on, Bagan, now 25, admits: "That final will always stick in my mind - it was a massive day for the club and the town.

"When you are that age, you can end up thinking it is always going to be like that season after season.

"Playing at Ibrox, in front of 50,000 fans, is the stuff of dreams for a young player in his first season and I thought 'yes, this is the life for me'.

"But my second season proved much more difficult. Players start to read your game, big names come in and I got injured - but in the end I know these are just excuses.

"It just didn't work out and I've been delighted to come to Inverness."

"These days I obviously appreciate more that you have to enjoy these moments when they happen."
