Do You Remember ?

Ross Mathie 1969-72

Born: 1945

Signed: 1969

Previous Club: Cambuslang Rangers

First Game:  Aug 20th 1969 at St Johnsone (SLC)

Last Game:  Aug 23rd 1972 at Dundee Utd (SLC)

After Killie: Sold to Dumbarton for £5,000

Position:  Forward

After scoring 15 league goals in 26 starts, in season 1971-72, Ross was dropped by manager Walter McRae after the 4th League Cup Sectional game (despite netting twice!), to start season 72-73. Ross never played a league match that season for Killie, however he did have a say in Killie's season. Ross was sold to Dumbarton in Feb of 1973, and scored twice against Killie for the Sons in helping them beat us 4-2 at Boghead. Dumbarton went on to finish 1 point ahead of Killie that season, as Killie were relegated from the first division, for the first time in 19 years.

Why Ross was sold no one knows!

Ross today works with Scottish National team youth and schoolboy setup.

Ross is pictured right at the 1997 Cup Final wearing his "true colours"!
