Do You Remember ?

David Woodison 2002-03

As most of us know Killie recently announced releasing a number of it's squad & younger players. Please find David  Woodison's story, as told in his own words in May of 2003.........

David  Woodison......."Due to the clubs financial plight the squad’s wage bill was being reduced and I was given the chance to leave despite the year remaining on my contract.

Quite simply, I hadn’t been enjoying it for the last two months so I agreed to discuss a settlement. An agreement was quickly reached a few days later and my full time football career was over. Retirement!

I was sad to see the back of
Rugby Park, as any supporter in my position would be, but I had become too involved in the football club and had too many conflicting interests.

Laterally in my time at Rugby Park I also worked part time for an IT company and I have continued to do so over the summer.

I am soon to leave home for Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, where I will be studying Business and Economics and I’m looking forward to the years ahead. Everything is going well at the moment!

Footballing future? ....Well, I'm still rather bored with it just now. I’ve played in a few fun games such as Killiefc.com day and have recently played a couple of games with Killie IFC. Will wait and see how things to at Uni; I might try and find a part time club up there or try and get a game with the Uni team but I’ll wait and see how thing develop.

And
Kilmarnock FC? …. I’ve got my season ticket and will go to games when possible. The next few months should be interesting off-field, I feel it may be time for change there too as the supporters become increasingly discontent with the current Board.

Jefferies is a very astute Gaffer and is an asset to the club, hopefully he will remain at the helm for a further few years. If he guides us to Europe, I’d do my best to be there, pissed, the right way to follow Killie. The way I’ve been unable to follow my team up until now!
