Derek "Big D" McDicken 1973-85

Born: 1955 Auchinleck

Previous Clubs: Troon Juniors, Darvel Juniors

Debut: Hamilton Accies (H), Lge Cup, Aug 15th 1973

Last  Match: East Fife (A) Scot 1st Div, Apr 20 1985 (as a sub).

Appearances: 411 (26 as a sub) with 40 goals.

After Killie: Brief spell with Clyde, then onto Auchinleck T where he retired from football after a serious double leg break in the 1987 Scottish Junior Cup Final. Derek was said to have been on higher wages at Talbot, than he had been on at while with Killie!

Most Memorable Moment: Scoring the only goal for 1st Div Killie in knocking out  holders Celtic in a 4th round Scottish Cup replay at Rugby Park  on Mar 6th 1978.

In 1980 Killie turned down a bid of 250,00K from West Ham, as it was considered an undervalued bid!.



During the interval of the Killie Vs Falkirk, April 11th 2009, SPL match, Killie welcomed back to Rugby Park 70's & 80's stalwart Derek "Big D" McDicken to handle the half time draw formalities, and received a great round of applause from the elder Killie fans!
