for
relegation. Any time you picked up a paper in the build-up to the
start of the season it was us or St Mirren that were favourites to
go down. So hopefully by the end of the season it would be good to
prove people wrong."When you read it
at the time it's a bit annoying because people didn't really know
about the boys who were coming in or how the manager was going to
play. Some of the pre-season games we did well, we were winning
games and we drew with Blackpool.
"You could see the quality the gaffer had
brought in so people didn't really know what they were talking
about.
"From the first day the gaffer came in he told us how he wanted us
to play. He wanted to pass it on the deck and that's what we've been
doing. It's starting to pay off now.
"Before I would never have wanted the ball
off the goalkeeper, now we're trying to get it off the goalkeeper
all the time and build things from the back. So my game has changed
a lot.
"It's good to be involved in the build-up
and maybe start off a move that leads to a goal, so I'm enjoying
it."
"We knew we were playing well, we were just
making silly mistakes and losing games by the odd goal, We knew the
goals were coming so we just had to cut out the mistakes and take
our chances and that's what we have done in the last three games.
"The gaffer had a meeting with us and just
said it was all about mental toughness and going out there thinking
you weren't going to make a mistake. Since then everyone is covering
for everyone. We are a tight-knit team
and we are hard for teams to break down."
Apr
3rd 2011...Kilmarnock defender
Frazer Wright will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder
injury, according to caretaker manager Kenny Shiels.
The 31-year-old picked up the problem in the
0-0 draw with St Johnstone. Wright,
who joined the Ayrshire club in 2005, has been a regular starter in
the Killie first-team and has already made 31 appearances this
season.
However, he was withdrawn after 85 minutes
of Saturday's match in Perth after colliding with
Danny Invincibile. Wright was left
holding his right shoulder in the penalty box after the clash with
the Australian striker who recently left Rugby Park for St
Johnstone.
Wright's injury did allow for young
Gary Fisher to make his Killie
debut!
