To this day you will find many an argument over who Killie's "best player"
was in the 90's! The majority of the fans are divided over Tommy Burns or
Ian Durrant.
A cultured right foot, and the vision to be a true midfield maestro,
Durrant was brought in by Bobby Williamson in 1998 after Rangers title
string was broken, and Walter Smith was starting to load up Ibrox with a
new load of foreigners.
Durrant was in the twilight of his career, and after multiple knee
operation he looked to "done!
Williamson described Durrant as the man he described "as made Killie
tick!"
Ian played for almost 4 seasons with Killie, and helped Killie to 2 4th
place finishes, and captained Killie while in Europe, while also picking
up 5 Scottish "caps" while representing Killie.
Durrant's last competitive appearance was in the 2001 CIS Cup Final, where
he ran the show for the first 40 min's, before having to be sub'ed off!
Ian did make one last cameo appearance at the end of the 01-02 season Vs
Dundee Utd, as a sub to say good-bye to playing one last time.
