Jose Quitongo

Full Name: Jose Quitongo

Nickname: ?

Position: Midfielder/Forward

Date of Birth: 18th November 1974

Birthplace: Angola

Height: 5ft 8ins

Weight: 11st 5lbs

Former Clubs: Benfica, Darlington, Hamilton, Hearts, Hamilton, St Mirren

Signed KFC: 8th August 2002

Notes: After leaving Benfica Jose moved to England with Darlington and eventually up North where he has stayed ever since. As with a few of our current squad Jim Jefferies once had him on the books at Hearts, and with the new transfer window system coming to the fore this season, Jim offered him a six month contract as cover, which suited both parties as Jose was training with a Spanish club at the time but didn't want to settle there. As tricky winger who has a lot of pace and can make the ball stick to his feet, having him on the bench is a good option for JJ, but if he could finish half as well as he could dribble then there would be much bigger clubs than us after him. Unsure whether his current six month contract will be extended to the summer, depends if JJ needs to move him on to secure another player or not during the January transfer window.

Tricky player, good ball skills and a good dribbler, but can be wasteful on occasions. He is very much a crowd pleaser and signs are there in the U21s that he can produce a cross or two. If he can do it more regularly he may well be worth a new contract after Xmas.

Brilliant ball control and trickery but I wish he would get the ball into the danger area more often or have a go himself. Great to photograph with his hairstyle and action!!!

Gets a hard time and unfair criticism from the press. Always gives 100% and is capable of the odd moment of class

Jose is an entertainer. He always runs at defences and has plenty skill. He definitely should be given an extended contract.

The wee man has done well since signing although his final ball lets him down too often. Good entertainer who should be used as a sub to change a game rather than starting. Has done enough to earn a longer contract and a good man to have in your squad.

One of the 'here till chrimbo' brigade. And I have to admit not a signing I was overly keen on (in fact downright opposed to). HOWEVER I am more than happy to eat my words and admit that I was wrong.(dodgy cliche alert!) Bag o' tricks, with the odd flash of brilliance, still missing that final killer edge though.
I'd say he's done enough to warrant an extension till the end of the season (perhaps as has been previously stated as a bench warmer who can come on to turn a game).

Fantastic ball skills and is very strong for his size which helps him hold off defenders. I would like to see him played through the middle at times as defenders are scared to tackle him and I could see him getting us a few penalties. I think he is definitely worth an extension to the end of the season.
If he had a better finishing ball and shot he would be a world beater.

A great player to watch as he brings a bit of excitement onto the park. A tricky player that's a nightmare for defenders. A pity about his final ball as he seems to take on one player too many but still worth keeping hold of.

He's had a lot of stick but I've never seen him put a foot wrong. Uses his weight well, good in the air an he can hit a ball! well maybe not but he's smart, skillful and great 2 watch, well worth signing IMO!

Was totally opposed to him signing at the start and I'm still not totally convinced his is any better than what we already had at the club. Very skillful but that's about it.
