Do You Remember ?

Peter Canero 1999-04

Born:  Jan 18th 1981

Signed:  16 Oct 1997

Previous Club:  Killie Boys Club

First Game:

Last Game: Jan 3rd @ Aberdeen 2004

After Killie: Leicester City (Jan 2004)

Fee: £400K (Est)

Position: Defender/Midfielder (Right/Left)

International Honours:  U-21 International

Notes: Peter was capped for Scotland at Under 18 and Under 21 level, recently scoring the equaliser against Denmark in a 1-1 draw. When we did the notes last season, Peter was being utilised as a right back/wing back by Bobby Williamson but has since been moved into the left back/wing back slot by Jim Jefferies who reckons that he defends better there. If ever there was a player suited to a wing back role it is Peter because he is very strong getting forward and creates no end of problems for opposition defences, sometimes though it's been hard to get a settled place in the team because he's so versatile! Peter has a great 'engine' and never seems to tire, almost certain that he will go on to win full international caps before long if Mr. Vogts had ever cared to cast his eye down Rugby Park way now and then.
Pedro was only keen to move on with a transfer that would help Killie out (ie no pre-contract situations with other club's (Celtic was reported to be a non-starter) where Peter would leave Rugby Park for nothing!)  Peter has since been selected to the full Scotland side since his Jan 2004 move to  Leicester City.
