2008-09 Season Player Quotes:

The winger was disciplined by the club for his reaction at being subbed late on in the March 0-0 draw at Aberdeen. Gibson, who had only come on at half-time for Mehdi Taouil, failed to go over to the bench when he was replaced by Danny Invincibile, headed straight for the dressing room and threw his jersey to the ground.

Gibson admitted he was out of order and said: “I should not have flung my shirt away as that was disrespectful, it was wrong to do that and I’m sorry I did it. I should have walked over and shaken Danny’s hand when he was coming on rather than do what I did. I shouldn’t have reacted in the way I did. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the club, the manager or the fans.  We took good numbers up there to Pittodrie and that shows what a good support we’ve got.  It was just out of frustration, it was heat of the moment and I know that I shouldn’t have done it. I was disappointed to be taken off, as everyone is. I went on as a sub and didn’t expect to be substituted.  The manager said it was for tactical reasons, we managed to get a point and I should not have reacted as I did.  Every player wants to play. I want to play in every game and help the club and I’ve not played as much as I would have liked. I'm sorry for the way I reacted.”
