Under Strength FCK hit Inver for 6!

Claire Johnstone has ANOTHER shut out and Jo Love cracked in a double.

Inver-Ross LFC 0 - 6 FC Kilmarnock
(SWPL Match - 2nd March 2003, 2.00pm Kick Off - Burgh Park, Inverness)

On Sunday new League leaders FC Kilmarnock made the 400 mile round trip to Inverness and back to play a promising young side, Inver-Ross in the Premier League. With a depleted squad of only 12 players due to the injury and work commitments of main strikers Hammill and Brown the Killie team knew they would have a tough game on the hands. The home side, Inver-Ross have many talented young players with over half the team playing in the under 19 national squad .

The start of the game was really scrappy with both teams fighting for possession on a muddy council field. No real chances were created until the 22nd minute when a volley from Hind was pushed wide for a corner. A few other half chances, mainly from Love and Hough, saw the visitors begin to come more into the game however it was far from a convincing performance. With only a few minutes remaining in the first half Sarah Hough latched onto a through ball from the defence and calmly rounded the goalkeeper to make the breakthrough.

After a few choice words from coach Jim Chapman at half time, Killie came out the second half looking like a different team and within 30 seconds of the restart had dispossessed Inver-Ross, made four clever passes, and slotted the ball home. The players new found hunger was clear as both McLaughlin and Hough seemed to thrash the ball over the line from a rebounded Love strike. From then on the visitors made it clear exactly why they are the top side in the division with an excellent display of guile, determination, and some great football that ripped the home side apart. A goal from McLaughlin, a further two from Love (including a clever chip over the goalkeeper) and a final strike from Hind completed the second half rout and the game finished 6-0.

This Sunday there will be no game as the senior women's national team take on China on Monday 10th March 7.30pm at Livingston's City Stadium. China are currently one of the top three sides in the women's game and this match will provide an excellent opportunity to see them in action if you fancy taking the trip through.

FC Kilmarnock: Johnstone, Kerr, Burns, Cheyne, Fowler, Sneddon, Love, McLaughlin, Hind, Hough (Black 65), Smith.
