FC Killie Cup Final Preview

CUP heroine Donna Cheyne is sick of men slagging off women's football.

And the FC Kilmarnock midfielder insists the snipers will be shocked by the quality of football at today's Scottish Cup Final.

The Ayrshire girls take on Hibernian at Livingston's City Stadium as they chase back-to-back trebles.

The 24-year-old, who is a youth development officer at Rugby Park, said: "The chance of sealing the treble gives this match added excitement.

"It was this competition that set FC Killie on our way. We beat A*r United two years ago in a penalty shoot- out.

"That was so special as United are our derby rivals and were the best team in Scotland. Since then we completed the treble last season, have played in the UEFA Cup and already won the title and League Cup this term.

"It would be a fantastic achievement to win the treble two seasons in a row.

"But Hibs have given us three tough games this season.

"Our boss Jim Chapman likes us to get the ball down and pass it around. People will be surprised at how good women's football is."

Team-mate Michelle Barr played for Doncaster Belles against Fulham in last season's English FA Cup Final at Selhurst Park before a 10,000 crowd and live TV audience.

Now she hopes to match that achievement north of the border and realise her dream of playing professionally.

She said: "It's every footballer's dream to play full-time and to get paid for doing something you love - and I'm no different! The women's game has enjoyed real exposure in England so hopefully that will rub off up here."

Admission to today's final is FREE. Kick-off: 3.15pm.
