Board Reject Killie 125 Proposals

Chief executive David Heath put forward the Killie 125 - football for fans proposals to the board this week and was greeted with a negative response. The club claim that they are not prepared to take any financial risks in the current climate in the wake of what happened to the likes of Motherwell. In short they claim that even with 8,000 fans signed up that they still could not offer a season ticket for £125 which we think is strange when they are currently looking at a little over 1,500 for £250 (and a further 1,520 at concessionary prices) and possibly even less if the price is increased next season.

Heath today made a statement to the Kilmarnock Standard who have backed the campaign. He said: "This supporter group obviously cares deeply about promoting bigger attendance at Rugby Park and their enthusiasm is infectious. Of course the club is keen to see attendance rise and is trying a number of initiatives itself. I have to be frank though and say that we've looked at this proposal in detail and struggle to see any evidence that the proposed season ticket price cut will attract the substantial level of support we would need to fund this, not just now but in future years.  It would be irresponsible of the club to make a price promise right now that it couldn't afford to keep."

We would like to make it clear that this in no way means the end of the campaign and that we are determined to prove the board that they are making a wrong decision in not backing our plans. We can understand the boards stance on this matter and would like to make it clear that we do not intend to enter into a 'them' and 'us' scenario but we fully intend to carry on regardless in an attempt to force a rethink by March 31st. We have already started collecting names and will soon be broadening our scope to increase the numbers by having 'sign up' nights and various other events, the first being on Saturday at the Cup Final Remembered Night in The Howard.

*After a spate of personal attacks on some individuals on the Kickback Forum overnight we would like to re-iterate that while we agree to disagree with the board on this issue that we respect their right to run the club as they see fit and don't want to enter into any dialogue that would show the club up in a bad light...that is contrary to both parties interests. We were surprised by the club's decision but more disappointed than anything else but we're not going to let it get us down and neither should you.
