Squirrels Kick Kaisayr Butt Again!

The yahoo team were once again on the receiving end as Killie's IFA team kick started their season with a victory in yahooville...no thanks to the ref! Billed as a pre-season friendly, this match was anything but and provided more flashpoints than any of the preceding derby ties but amazingly no punches were landed.

The match took place at Kaisayr's Cambusdoon astroturf pitch at 5.00pm on Sunday and saw the return of Stevie Hill in his first Squirrels match since his shoulder injury that he got in the Bazcelona match. There were also a few new players getting a run out which was a bit confusing at times...for us and the players!

Five minutes after kick off, which was twenty minutes late (the same as me) Fergie scored the first goal of the season for the soon to be re-named Squirrels. Killie dominated the next ten minutes but this could be down to the fact that Kaisayr started with their weakest line up and were gradually introducing their better players...or so it seemed.

The referee then signaled what his intentions were going to be for the rest of the game when he awarded the other side a very dubious penalty. One of their players was a mile off side and when Houston caught him running back through the middle the ref blew for hand ball in the box...a this point he was standing in their 18 yard box behind a ruck of players...amazing eyesight considering he couldn't see his own feet!

Killie then made wholesale changes and introduced all their subs at once. This obviously unsettled the balance and the yahoos soon took the lead. You can't suppress raw talent for long though and Killie bounced back with a double from Fergie (don't know who was happier, him or his dad wimp on the sidelines) and a cheeky lob from hot prospect Stevie Scott. We never got to see his customary somersault though!

After another flurry of substitutions, and with the help of the unfeasibly fat (that's rich coming from me), biased, and totally inept referee (you getting the picture yet?) who had decided to encamp himself in Kaisayr's half.... again...the yahoos grabbed a consolation goal. The only thing that surprised me was that the ref didn't play on until they scored again! Despite a fair bit of niggle during the game, the yahoos accepted their defeat in a sportsman like manner and the handbags were put away for another day.

Keep an eye out for upcoming fixtures during the season and pop along and give the boys some support...at the very least I can guarantee a good laugh...and at best you get to see players in Killie strips scoring plenty of goals.
