Kilmarnock FC - Player Profiles 2002-03
No.3
- Sean Hessey
Full Name:
Sean Hessey
Nickname:
Something about cream eggs no doubt
Position:
Defender/Centre Half
Date of Birth:
19th September 1978
Birthplace:
Liverpool
Height:
6ft 0ins
Weight:
12st 5lbs
Former Clubs:
Liverpool, Leeds, Wigan, Huddersfield, Rotherham
Signed KFC:
25th July 1999
Notes:
Sean is a bit of an enigma in that he's been in and out of the team under
our previous and current manager but never seems to be a permanent
feature. He's probably been utilised in every area of the defence apart
from in goals and has also been deployed in midfield at times. He seems a
capable enough player but some fans will never forgive him for his part in
the 5-1 trouncing at Rugby Park by league newcomers Livingston in 2001-02,
although he certainly was the only one to blame on that occasion. How much
a part of Jim Jefferies plans he will be involved in remains to be seen,
but Sean featured regularly at the start of this season before going out
injured which incidentally coincided with our collapse of form. Virtually guaranteed to get yellow carded in
every game, determination is not a department in which this boy is
lacking.

loony..........
Too much of a risk, always liable
to some sort of madness in a game. Hothead.

Has
potential to be a great stopper, strong and determined but liable to
the red misty moments and the occasional "mistimed"
tackle.

Got
potential but needs a year or two yet for experience. A year on loan
to get first team experience could be what he needs.

He
is a good player and has had a played well this season but he needs
to learn not to be so hot headed.

Can
be a good player but needs to control his temper, a Killie fan
(despite being born in Liverpool!!!), he is usually found at
friendly games or closed doors matches even when he's not playing.
He also supplies the name to the back of my away top from last
season

He
will be a very good defender if he can become more disciplined. He
should do well this season.

He
seems to have played better under JJ and I quite like him but he
does need to stop going over the edge. He was careless many times
before but has played well this season. Good attitude and can ping
the ball with either foot or indeed massacre opposing forwards with
either foot. Needs to learn but I think the raw ability is there.

Sean
Hessey
More than capable of holding down
first team place - didn't think I would say that a year ago.
Valuable squad member.

This
guy is garbage. It amazes me that some Killie die hards think that
he is good enough to wear the famous blue and white stripes. I know
that Bellfieldblue doesn't make much sense normally, but when it
comes to "diddy" Hessey I have to agree with him. NOT GOOD
ENOUGH!!!!

I
think that he has the raw ability to be a good solid player for Killie,
if only the moaners would get off his back. His attitude is first
class and always gives 100%. His great attitude is also shown by his
attendance at youth team games. People forget that he is still young
and that he WILL be a great player for us. His aggression is just
part of his game.

I
agree with the majority of posts that Sean has improved this season.
However in my opinion he is only a squad player and should be rated
as 4th choice centre back behind Freddy Barry & Johnny
Bravo.
I feel he is prone to the occasional error, hot headed & if
played on a regular basis would ultimately cost us points.

Strong
center half who has played alongside some of the best in England. If
he cuts out the silly mistakes could be a 5-10 million defender as
he matures.

Very
good defender and is a valuable member of the squad. He should stick
to what he does best though and not try Durrant style passes.

Yet
another player who attracts the attention of the moaners. Sean is
not as bad a player as is made out, yes he has picked up some silly
booking and a stupid red card, but he is on the whole a good player.
As with Chris Innes, he will benefit from a sustained run in the
first team with a regular partner.

Tough
uncompromising defender that can play at full-back or centre-back.
Once tipped by his manager at Huddersfield as a future England cap.
Can make some vital tackles when needed at the back, but, can be
over-enthusiastic at times and pick up needless bookings.
