No.16 - Garry Hay

Full Name: Garry Hay

Nickname: Hooky

Position: Defender/Midfielder (Left)

Date of Birth: 7th September 1977

Birthplace: Irvine

Height: 5ft 8ins

Weight: 10st 3lbs

Former Clubs: KFC Youth

Signed KFC: 18th August 1995

Notes: It seems like an eon ago that Garry made his impressive debut with a double strike against Aberdeen at Rugby Park. Now that's the way to make your first impression on the home support! Garry did well under Bobby Williamson in the wing back role when we were playing with three centre half's but his lack of height is a problem when it comes to playing the more orthodox left back role. It seems that Jim Jefferies sees Garry as more of a midfielder than a defender and may lose out in a flat back four to his mate Peter Canero. Garry is a good player and can put good crosses in coming forward, it's just finding a role for him in the first team that could be a problem for the manager...but a problem he's probably delighted to have.

Works hard and gives 100%. He's good at going forward and can deliver some decent crosses and even better, he's a Killie fan!

Started with a bang with a stunning goal against Aberdeen, oh yeah and long hair. Good young player who gives his all!

The sole New Farm Loch member of the squad.

Garry Hay has made the left back spot his own over the past three seasons. An unforgettable home debut against Aberdeen saw him net twice and he has hardly been out the team since. Seems to relish playing in a back five more than a flat back four. Very skillful player on the ball.

Hay has hardly been out of the first team since breaking through the ranks. Made the left back position his own and can't see him losing it in the near future. Although according to the media he's not as good as his brother Kris Hay!!

Great start to his Killie career with the goals against Aberdeen. Great going forward and loves taking on players. Should score more goals though. Another possible Scotland cap for the future.

Love the way he just gets on with the game. More skillful than given credit for. I would like to see him in an attacking midfield role as his lack of height goes against him at the back.

Good wee player who always gives his all but seems to let the head go down a bit when things aren't going well. Has played in the left back/wing back role but his height causes us problems in defence. Not shy in breaking forward and had a few nice "assists" last season - a good squad player.
