No.17 - Jamie Fowler

Full Name: James Fowler

Nickname: Fow

Position: Defender/Midfielder/Forward (Left/Right)

Date of Birth: 26th October 1980

Birthplace: Stirling

Height: 5ft 10ins

Weight: 11st 3lbs

Former Clubs: Gairdoch Boys Club, KFC Youth

Signed KFC: 18th October 1997

Notes: Jamie is another product of Alan Robertson's youth team, and more proof, should we need it, that producing our own talent is the best way forward for the club. Jamie has been utilised in the first team in almost every position bar in goals and is a great asset to have in the squad. Unfortunately for Jamie his versatility and the fact that he can't be easily pigeonholed to one position has probably held him back in that he qualifies as the perfect substitute because he can play anywhere. Saying that, his preferred role is probably on the right hand side either at full back, wing back or further forward on the wing. He has bags of skill and personally I prefer to see him playing further up the park where his pace can be put to better use. I'm glad to say that he has just signed a two year extension to his current contract and no doubt will continue to impress and become a first team regular in time.

Much better at going forward than in defensive positions. May find it tough to get a regular 1st team place this season. BEWARE call him Jamie at your peril!!! For his mammy doesn't like when folk do that

Whose cruel idea was it for the word "lisp" to have an "s" in it?

Lacks experience but has a lot of potential. JAMIE good going forward but easily pushed off the ball, can only get better

James Fowler is what was once classed as a "utility" player. He can play in a number of positions, and with both feet. Easily slots into the team wherever he has been asked to play. May benefit from an extended run in the team, but will need to stay clear of injury this season.

James/Jamie featured a bit at the end of last season and looks a good prospect for the future .

Seems able to play in most position on either side and up front, but is definitely better going forward as he gets caught out when defending. He is fast but needs to improve his tackling, although he did well to keep his head after being involved in the Jamie Fullarton injury a couple of years back which could have affected his confidence.
His ability to play anywhere means that he probably won't be able to make one position his own and could work against him.

James is a bit like Garry Hay and Canero in the way that he's better attacking than defending. Great going forward and given the right chance has the potential to become a good player for Killie.

Can't see him getting a first team game any time soon which is a shame as he looks like he could be a good player.

I remember his debut at Dundee when his first involvement in the game was knocking a Dundee player over the advertising boards, superb. Much better midfielder than forward or wing back.

Good pace, good engine and versatile as he must have played every position except goalie in the under 21's. Like Canero his strength is running at he opposition - might not start every game but a valuable squad player who could well establish himself with a bit more experience.

Needs to develop himself a bit more, but a fine young player showing good potential. A few appearances as a sub will do him or Killie no harm.

Should develop into a good player and has plenty pace. I think he will find it difficult to get into the first team this season but will do well when he is needed.
