Kilmarnock FC - Player Profiles 2002-03

No.20 - Paul Di Giacomo

Full Name: Paul Di Giacomo

Nickname: Jacko

Position: Midfielder//Forward (Left/Right)

Date of Birth: 30th June 1982

Birthplace: Glasgow

Height: 5ft 11ins

Weight: 11st 12lbs

Former Clubs: KFC Youth

Signed KFC: 1st August 1998

Notes: Paul is one of the most exciting prospects produced by the KFC youth initiative in a long time. He almost certainly rates above the likes of Alex Burke and David Bagan because he seems to have more staying power and became an almost permanent fixture in the first team last season. He's got bags of pace and skill, both commodities needed for an attacking player and he isn't afraid to go into a challenge when so required. Unfortunately for Jacko and for us, he succumbed to injury and needed cruciate ligament re-construction which keep him out of the frame until September 2002, but he recovered well and was brought straight back into the team due to other players getting injured! I predict big things for this young man, I only hope he can achieve them at Killie, we just need to make sure that we don't heap too much expectation on his now that he has returned and allow him to ease himself back into the game at his own pace.

Looked to be a fantastic player before his injury and bought me two vodka's and red bull in The Cube when I met him out in Glasgow. What a guy, hope we see the best of him again soon.

Has the pace and ability to do the business a higher level if he can overcome his proneness to injury. This is the second serious injury for someone so young, and it may hinder him in the future, but hopefully not.

Hopefully we'll see him playing again soon and hopefully he'll be fully over his injury. Is a great young player who can score goals. Remember that goal against Motherwell!!! He' a good young player who has plenty of potential to be great.

Brilliant individual talent who burst onto the scene last year after numerous outstanding displays in the under 21's. JJ is keenly anticipating back in a Killie jersey and if he can learn to mix his individual skills with becoming a good team player then we may have another star on our books.

Possibly the most exciting prospect of all the youngsters currently at Killie. Quick, skillful and knows how to score, Paul could turn out to be a great player. Needs to carry on where he left off last season before he was injured. Lots of potential, exciting and already considered one of the better players in the squad.

Killie's best striker and I am proud to bear his name on the back of my Killie shirt. I see Jacko as one of the best players we have ever had the pleasure to witness at Rugby Park. I really hope he completes his comeback soon with no further problems and can't wait so see him fulfill his potential, hopefully with Killie. His goal against Motherwell last season was certainly one of the best I've seen.

Sounds like an ice-cream salesman, plays like a good 'un
Definitely one of the best of the current crop of youngsters coming through if not the best. The sooner he recovers from injury the better.

He likes to attack defenders and supporters like this. Needs to work on his first touch as he often has to rely on his speed, not skill, to beat his man.

Great player, skillful, quick...............when he's in the mood. Sometimes looks like he's unwilling to chase those lost causes which Dargo hounds after. When on a game, he is one of our best players and can take people on and supply great crosses. One of the few Killie players that Diddy Donnelly will give a Goal of the Month award to.
