No.22 - Kris Boyd

Full Name: Kris Boyd

Nickname: Boydie / Boom Boom

Position: Striker

Date of Birth: 18th August 1983

Birthplace: Irvine

Height: 6ft 0ins

Weight: 12st 12lbs

Former Clubs: KFC Youth

Signed KFC: 1st August 1999

Contract Expires: 1st May 2006

Notes: Kris only broke through into the first team last season after being brought through the ranks at Rugby Park. He is a prolific goal scorer and has bagged goals aplenty at every level of his development. Kris has also starred at most levels for Scotland and has already hit the net a few times for the Scottish Under 18 team last year. He is one of the latest to be given a chance to show what he can do from what seems like an endless conveyor belt of talent being produced by Killie's youth policy. He's quick, strong and has a knack of being able to find the back of the onion bag on a regular basis...a feature sadly lacking since the departure of Killie legend Paul Wright. Here's hoping Kris can go on to score a cup final winner for us too! JJ was looking for a big striker to solve our goal scoring problems and if Kris continues this season like he has started then he may need to look no further. I'm afraid if he continues to improve at his current rate then it won't be long before some 'bigger' team comes in with a substantial offer. Kris signed a two year contract extension on 1st March that sees him through to 2006.

A young player with a great deal of promise who is showing much improved appetite for the game and willingness to get stuck in. Terrific eye for a goal with ability to score from all angles including a variety from toe pokes close in to spectacular volleys from distance. He is a handful for defenders with his powerful running and strength on the ball. A nightmare for goalkeepers because of his coolness and ability to improvise in front of goal. Needs to improve in the air but signs he is working on this. I predict a great future for this young man and suspect he will end up with one of the top English sides in the next few years.

Absolutely brilliant!!!! Time him up on a long contract now!! If we lose him for less than a million quid it would be a travesty! I want to see him a Paul Di up front for years to come.

He is coming along fine. He is a big lad, who always looked to avoid the heavy challenges, but in the last 2-3 games he has shown a lot more steel and aggression. Needs to work on his aerial ability, but in the present state of Scottish football he could go far.

A great goalscorer. He's willing to shoot from almost anywhere on the park and will probably be our top scorer this season.

A prolific goalscorer all the way through youth football and carried the habit into the under 21's. I cant believe some folk on the KK board were slagging him as he's still a young lad with huge potential and much to learn. I think in the coming years he'll prove to be the best of our young players as long as he keeps his attitude right and works hard - could be our elusive 20 goal a season man??

Wee Boydie seems to finally be getting the confidence up front that he has lacked.... has the potential to be the box striker that we needed..... only time will tell.

Tall, lumbering front man with an eye for goal. Has a very powerful shot and puts himself about a bit very much in the same mould as Chris Sutton. Sutton seems to get more fouls though - wonder why that is ?
Kris has big potential and hopefully he can fulfill that under JJ.

Finally starting to come into his own after doing so well in the under 18's and the reserves.
Would love to see a front 3 of Boyd, Dargo and Jacko. Very pleasing to the eye!

Kris is a brilliant young player. He has scored two important goals this season and I hope he goes on to score a lot more.

Not totally convinced at first - but gradually coming around! Takes shots from just about anywhere, and unlikely so many of our strikers over recent years, some of them actually go in! Fights for the ball, and seems to quite like putting himself about on the pitch. Good! He's only 19 - which could mean we've got many years ahead with him if we can hold onto him!

The best goal scorer at the club. Will get even better when he gets some upper body strength built up to hold off defenders. Love his 'shoot on sight' approach.

Got great potential and I can see him top goalscorer for us in a few years if not now. Still doesn't like going into tackles and a bit feart for a big man at times!
Not scared of having a go at goal and will shoot as soon as he sees the goal

I hear they're even coming from...Gdansk to watch Killie play

Has potential to be a real top class striker. For a big lad ,should be more dominating in the box ,but that will come with experience. Knows where the goal is and more than willing to have a pop from anywhere. Definitely one to watch.

Since I first saw Kris in a Youth Cup tie against the Huns two years ago I have been consistent in my view that he has the potential to be the best striker brought through Killie's youth system since Ronnie Hamilton. Although it is clear that he still has much to learn, nothing has caused me to alter that view.
He is big, strong and has a natural eye for goal and, more importantly, appears to learn quickly and seems to have a good temperament which is vital in the modern game.
My major concern is that we sell him before we see his best and accept something less than £5million.

He's cocky. he's confident, he has a natural instinct for goals, and I love him.
