No.23 - Mark Canning

Full Name: Mark Canning

Nickname: Marco

Position: Defence/Midfield (Right)

Date of Birth: 12th September 1983

Birthplace: Bellshill

Height: 5ft 11ins

Weight: 12st 2lbs

Former Clubs: KFC Youth

Signed KFC: 1st August 1999

Notes: There's not much I can say about Mark to be fair because I've not seen that much of him. He's progressed through the ranks steadily, making many appearances for the Under 18's and latterly the Under 21's. He made his debut coming on as a substitute for Christophe Cocard in the UEFA cup. The match was the second leg of the UEFA Cup qualifying round against Glenavon which we won 1-0 thanks to an Ally Mitchell strike. Mark has also appeared in the Dark Blue of Scotland at youth levels and seems to have impressed all his gaffer's at Rugby Park so far that he's worth keeping around. He will probably either break through within the next couple of seasons or move on for first team football.

A young player with a lot of potential. Has made a few appearances for the first team but will no doubt establish him self over the next few years, either that or will move on!!

Promising young defender who is an accomplished tackler. He plays mostly at full back but I would prefer to see him in a more central role. He will need to work on his passing a bit before making it big, but is enthusiastic and gives his all.

Yet another promising youngster, but I don't know if he will get a chance at RP, given the number of players who are ahead of him in the list. Would not be surprised if he moves on in the next year or two.

The first one off all the youngsters to break into the first team squad but hasn't had much of a chance. Was once seen as a replacement to Ally Mitchell but since he's never played for Hearts he may have to move elsewhere to get a chance.

Steady if not spectacular youngster who can play full back or wing back on the right side. Has been on the bench several times without actually breaking through to the first team. He can always boast that he was on the bench when Killie won 3-0 at Ibrox.
