Greg Shields has been in
outstanding form at the heart of the Rugby Park side's defence, and
has played a major role in helping to steer Killie to fourth place in
the SPL.
But the 26-year-old is happy to
concentrate on his club form and is not losing any sleep over his
non-selection.
Shields said: "I came to
Kilmarnock as a right-back but then the manager decided to move me
into the centre of defence because we were losing a lot of goals at
the start of the season.
We've all pulled together since
we changed from four to three at the back and we seem to be doing
rather well.
I love playing at centre-half and
I'm really enjoying my football here at Kilmarnock, so it doesn't
really bother me if the Scotland call-up doesn't come along."
Shields, who had an unhappy spell
with Charlton before returning north, is optimistic about the Ayrshire
club's future.
"There's a good mix in the side
and the club has a lot of good young players on their books,"
Shields also had spells with
Rangers and Dunfermline.
