Striker Kris Boyd has signed a
new deal which will keep him at Rugby Park until May 2006.
The 19-year-old who has scored nine times for Kilmarnock this season to
help propel the club towards a UEFA Cup spot.
Boyd signed professional forms in August 2000
before making his debut as a substitute against Celtic in the final game
of the 2000-01 season.
Boyd has won two SPL young player of the month
awards already this season and pushed himself into Rainer Bonhof's young
Scotland squad.
The Scottish Premier League club made the
announcement about Boyd as he vowed to prove manager Jim Jefferies wrong
for dropping him last
weekend.
Yet he found himself on the bench as Killie
defeated Partick Thistle and that followed
the disappointment of being left out of Bonhof's side to face the Republic
of Ireland.
"I had been enjoying things until last week, when
I was dropped, but that's life," he said.
"I had been involved with Scotland, playing for
Killie and scoring goals.
"All I can do is get back in against Aberdeen and
prove the boss was wrong to leave me out in the first place."
