KFC Stewards Match
Day Orders
In
light of recent discussion on the Kickback Forum we thought we'd
investigate what the rules and regulations for a match day really are. We
got a hold of a booklet with all the relevant documentation and have
extracted a few paragraphs to let you see what the official line really
is, so any further discussions can be based on fact and not assumptions.
COMPLAINTS
Any complaint by a spectator regarding the conduct of players on the field
should be met with a request to attend Kilmarnock Police Office after the
game when a statement will be taken. In the event of insistence of making
a complaint the officer should record the complaint in his/her notebook
and draw the complaint to the attention of the Ground Commander.
RACISM
The Force Policy of stamping out racism in Scottish Football should be
strictly observed and any incidents dealt with firmly.
FLAGS
INSIDE THE GROUND
No flag sticks heavier than a garden cane are permitted within the ground.
No action is to be taken with regard to flags inside the Stadium without
first consulting the Match Commander.
STREET
TRADERS
Street Traders holding licences granted by the District Council are
permitted to operate in the vicinity of the Stadium. This refers to
sellers of all goods including hot foods and football favours. Personnel
should ensure no nuisance or obstruction occurs. The area between the south
footpath in Rugby Road and the turnstiles is the property of Kilmarnock
Football Club. Only traders authorised by the club will be permitted to
operate in this area.
STEWARDS
Stewarding is carried out by Rock Steady Security under contract to
Kilmarnock Football Club. All matters pertaining to stewarding remain the responsibility
of the Club, however, operational matters on match day may be addressed to
Steward Supervisors in the area of concern. Stewards are controlled by
radio from a room adjacent to the police control room. Tel No. xxxxxx Ext
xxx.
Officers should provide any assistance requested by stewards. Where the
request appears unreasonable or outwith the scope of the officer
concerned, the matter should immediately be referred to the Match
Commander.
Stewards are solely responsible for enforcing the Club rules for ejecting
anyone who fails to comply with them from the ground. Stewards will only
seek Police assistance when this has failed. Officers will not eject
spectators from the ground but will arrest anyone who commits an
arrestable offence.
That's
about all there was of any relevance, nothing about sectarianism or the
like, so we can only assume that if the club make it their policy to not
allow sectarian flags to be flow then the stewards can ask for them to be
taken down. At the moment, according to one of the stewards, the club
allow national flags to be flown as long as there are no sectarian slogans
scrawled on them, but it looks as if those street traders peddling their
filth around the stadium on match days should be getting the old heave-ho
from plod...surely they can't be licenced to sell that stuff?
