Dundee FC blamed
the Celtic v Rangers showdown which was screened live on TV, for the
disappointing crowd for the 2- 2 draw with Killie
.
They also had a "dig" at the numbers of Killie fans who did NOT travel
through to Dundee!
Club chiefs had hoped
for a bumper attendance after slashing admission to £9 for adults and £1
for children.
The first meeting between the clubs in Oct drew 5,567, while Saturday's
"cut-price" encounter only drew 6,531!
But they believe the
fact the Old Firm game finished less than an hour before kick-off meant
some potential customers stayed at home.
Dens director Jim Connor
said: "It is something we may raise with the league.
"We would expect more
fans for a Saturday game than we would get in midweek. There is little
doubt the fall in attendance can be explained by an Old Firm game being
shown on television and finishing less than an hour before our kick-off.
"The size of the
away support in particular was hit and we had significantly
fewer Killie fans than we would normally expect on a Saturday afternoon."
"The deal to televise
games live brings valuable income to the game.
"But if showing games on
a Saturday is going to hit other crowds around the country later in the
afternoon, perhaps it is something we should look at."
Sounds like Mr Connor
is suggesting that their must be quite a few "closet" Old Firm fans within
the Killie fan-base! ...... Bullsh*t.... Allan... KTID!!!
