Greg Shields
talks about Killie's performance on Sunday Vs Celtic, and other bits &
pieces....
"I still think there
is a long way to go in the title race and I wouldn't be in any rush to
write-off Celtic just yet.
"There's no doubt we
rode our luck
on Sunday, particularly in the second
half when they hit the post a few times and just bombarded us with balls
into the box.
"Also, in the first
half Bobo Balde's header might have crossed the line.
"If the ref had given
a goal then the whole course of the game would have altered dramatically
but you need a little bit of luck when you come up against the Old Firm.
"In our last two games
against Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox and Parkhead we conceded 11 goals.
"But for some reason
we seem to perform a lot better when they come to Rugby Park.
"We took our game to
another level on Sunday and we managed to get the important first goal."
"It was quite scary at
set-pieces when you have Valgaeren, Hartson, Sutton, Larsson and Balde
all hoping to get on the end of Petrov's delivery.
"They've scored plenty
goals against us in the past from set-pieces and I think everybody at
Rugby Park was expecting it again.
"Apart from Chris
Innes we don't have much height at the back but we managed to contain
them and sneak a fantastic result. On another day they could have scored
five or six, but we defended magnificently and got the rub of the green.
"We were so well
organised and everybody seemed to be pulling in the same direction and
battling for each other.
"I think for that a
lot of the credit must go to the manager as he has fostered a great team
spirit since taking over in the summer."
"There are a lot of
differences between the two teams. I think Celtic are much stronger and
have more physical presence.
"At set-pieces they
are far more dangerous than Rangers and they have a front three who
would walk into most teams in Britain.
"But in Barry Ferguson
Rangers have the best player in the country at the moment.
"Rangers are certainly
the favourites now after the results at the weekend but, after Sunday,
I'm more convinced than ever that both teams will drop more points on
the run-in."
Kilmarnock are the
only team in the SPL to have taken points from both sides of the Old
Firm this season.
