"I have had incredible highs and lows in the last
two years, both on and off the field.
I won the First
Division title with St Mirren and scored the goal that took us into the
SPL.
Sadly, during that
close season my mum Margaret passed away."
"My mum and dad were the
biggest influences in my whole football career and they were there to
watch me play in every match. They never once
dissuaded me from choosing football as a profession. They were so proud of
me when I made it as a player with St Mirren. They were not just parents, they were my best friends."
"This summer my dad also
passed away before I had got the step back up to the SPL and signed for
Kilmarnock. It is devastating and
tough when you lose both parents but life goes on and somehow you have to
cope."
"I never managed a goal
in the SPL with Saints. In fact, not many players did and that is probably
why we were relegated. When I scored for
Killie last week I had a quick glance up to heaven and gave them both a
wee nod. I just wished they had
been there to see that goal more than any other I have scored. It would have made them
both so proud and happy and meant so much to me and I think they would
have probably enjoyed it more than me."

"Unfortunately my
dad didn't get the chance to see Aidan (Barry's son). One minute we were
receiving cards of congratulations on the birth of our baby son then the
next sympathy cards were dropping through the letterbox for my dad.
It was a weird time but
the arrival of Aidan really lifted everybody during a difficult time."
"I felt really
sorry for Sanjuan when he got sent off against Motherwell and I took his
place for the next match. I have not looked back
since and unfortunately for Sanjuan he has not been able to force his way
back into the team."
"When St Mirren were in
the SPL I felt I never really did myself justice. I'm grateful to Jim
Jefferies and Billy Brown for giving me a second chance in the top flight.
My first goal will
hopefully help me settle in and repay their faith. Things are going fairly
well for me and I am really enjoying my football again."
