A Good Face For Radio! Ah...the old gags are the best ones eh! I got a call from WestSound this morning to see what my reaction was to last night's AGM. The fact that they have given us a lot of good publicity for the 125 campaign of late and genuinely were only interested in what positives I took from the meeting rather than trying to dig dirt like the tabloids convinced me that it would be all right for me to unleash my pearls of wisdom on the poor sod at the other end of the telephone line. For those not in range of our local tranny station, here's what I said.... "I think that the newspapers are always going to pick up on the negative side of things, but there are a few positive things that came out of yesterday's AGM. From a personal point of view it was gratifying to hear that the board are giving our 125 campaign serious consideration and a going to make a final decision within the next couple of weeks. In the greater scheme of things, the news about the new Youth Academy was a real bonus, because rearing our own talent is the only way forward for this, if indeed not all, Scottish clubs. Especially with the way the transfer market is at the moment. I'm glad to see that the club is addressing the issue now rather than later. I've seen the plans that have been submitted and it really looks the part. It's sad that some people are going to lose their jobs but at least we know that the club are now cutting their cloth to fit, so to speak, and are doing everything they can to make sure that the remaining employees jobs are safe by turning the losses into profits. The manager seems to be working well within the parameters that he's been set and I think that he can continue to do that despite those parameters becoming smaller. He's brought in Stevie Fulton, Greg Shields and given Sean Dillon a chance and they've cost nothing...I don't see many complaints about them! I'd just like to add that another significant positive was the news that Margie Moffat has bought up all the shares of the directors who recently left and the Moffat family now own over 90% of the club. The Moffat family have almost single handedly kept Killie from going under for a number of years now and this further investment re-enforces how much the Killie fans actually owe them" No doubt this will get cut to the statuary 30 seconds and I'm not sure whether it will air tonight (Thursday) or tomorrow but at least you will be able to see for yourself how much actually does get cut - and in effect how the media can change the emphasis on what you say by clever editing. Not that WestSound would or would have to in this case of course! By the way Allan, don't add any stupid photos of me to this article alright! Allan Responds... Baz don't worry I wont, I'll only use an intelligent photo of you like the one on the left !! .......KTWD!!!
