Peter Canero has
a hectic few days in store. But taking stock, that’s not such a bad
thing. After the visit of Partick Thistle the 22 year old will leave
on Monday on a trip to Turkey as a participant in Berti Vogts’
Scotland Future Squad......
"I am obviously first
and foremost looking at the game with Thistle in which we can
consolidate our position in the top six," he says. "It is a big game
for Kilmarnock and after that it’s straight away to meet up with the
Scotland squad. No messing about. So it’s a bit hectic then."

"I haven’t been to Turkey. I’ve been everywhere else with the
under-21s,"
"The under-21 squad has been together for a year with pretty much the
same boys. We have good relationships as meeting up so often gives us
the chance to know each other. Before you would play maybe every three
to five months. That was that."
"I’ve
got 12 caps with the under-21s and that is with missing a lot of games
through injury and my club not letting me go on some occasions. It’s
good to play against different teams on different levels.
"It’s good to take these steps up and that is why getting called into
the future squad for Germany, where I thought I did reasonably well,
and now Turkey is a great thing. It feels nice getting involved."
Prospect of a senior squad call up
for Canero ? "Really it’s hard,
as there are so many players. I’ve made progress but there is much
more to be done before it’s a case of being in that squad.
"First I’ve got to carry on doing well for my club and as long as I’m
selected and doing well at Kilmarnock I may have the chance. I’m not
saying I could, I just have play for Kilmarnock and do well when I am
picked for the internationals."
"I must keep trying to do well at Kilmarnock and see what happens.
That is all that I can do."
Playing on the left for Killie &
the Right for the Scotland cause.
"It’s something I get used to. It’s different
but I seem to enjoy it anyway. As long as I am creating goals. And
scoring some too."
