Peter Canero is looking forward to the Under-21
double-header against Iceland and Lithuania......
"I always enjoy international
weeks and being involved with the squad.
"It's a change of scenery which certainly
doesn't do you any harm and it's also nice to work with players at the
same age level as you and
see how they're getting on.
"I suppose I'm one of the more
experienced guys in the squad now but there are lots of players involved
who are all playing regularly for their respective clubs.
"Many play in the SPL but some of the
guys are doing very well at clubs down in England as well. It can only be
good for everyone and the team if that is the case.
"I think we're getting stronger with
every passing match and also getting to know each other a lot better both
on and off the park. Those things go hand in hand.
"Rainer Bonhof has taken us away on a few
occasions as well and the spirit in the squad is excellent."
On Friday night's game at Broadwood ... "We obviously want to take all
three points since it's our home match.
"In our last game against the Republic or
Ireland at Rugby Park we played some decent football and it was an
encouraging victory, so we are looking to take up from where we left off.
"We're expecting a tough game from
Iceland but if we play to our true potential then I don't see any reason
why we can't win the game."
"The weather has been very nice
recently and if it's a nice evening then
hopefully that will encourage people to
come along and get behind us."
On
Killie's Season... "When Bobby
Williamson was here
we enjoyed a few runs in Europe and it's a smashing experience for
everyone connected with the club.
"Obviously if we could do that again then
it would be great and it's something I'm sure everyone at Kilmarnock is
aiming for.
"I think we've performed pretty well this
season and hopefully we can finish strongly.
"We're currently fourth in the league
just behind Hearts so the aim is to try and
overtake them before the end of the
season.
"It's just a case of working hard between
now and the end of the season and hoping results go our way."
