JJ....."We've Been Fairly Consistent"

(Feb 27th 2003)

Killie boss Jim Jefferies  updates shares his thoughts about the teams league position & form, and some injured players...

On the teams form..."First and foremost we are looking at a top six slot and then we can think about Europe.  We have had a good run recently with just two defeats in our last 11 league games.  So with seven wins and two draws that has seen us pick up 23 points from 33. That's not a bad record.  We have been fairly consistent and, of course, we are disappointed when we lose, but when you look at the bigger picture we have done well.  We have gone about our business quietly and collectively. Every-one has worked hard.  There is no doubt that the turning point came after the defeat by Partick Thistle. We sat down and had a long talk about it and went from there."

On Craig Dargo..."I don't know if he will be back this term - it's doubtful. But there are still 10 games to go and you never know. "It really depends on how he recovers, but he will certainly have to rest. We have missed him because he is a very good player. Along with Shaun Hessey, that's good experience we have been missing for a while. Wee Dargo has had a little problem with the ankle for a couple of seasons. He had that injury earlier this season, then it was corrected only for a piece of flaked bone and scar tissue to be found.
He had an operation last week and now just needs rest.
At least that is it all done with now and that will help him in the longer term."

On Gordon Marshall..."There is no problem, it was just that Marsh was supposed to go and see the consultant last week.  But the consultant had to delay the meeting for another week. Big Marsh is doing exercises with the physio in the meantime. It was just a routine operation for wear and tear to his shoulder and it's just been frustrating for him."
