BRING ON THE JAMBOS!

Jim Jefferies is a man at ease with himself these days and oozes calm despite the hectic weeks that lie ahead of him and his players. As you probably well know, Killie sit four points behind JJ's former club Hearts in the race for a UEFA Cup place with only four games to go...but he refuses to be phased and shows no sign of pressure.

He spoke to killiefc.com this morning from the comfort of the Administration Centre. Sitting back in his big chair he said: "I'll be looking for a big article in the internet about the game

on Saturday. We really need to talk this game up and get the supporters to turn out in numbers."

He went on: "Make no mistake about it, Hearts will bring through a sizeable crowd and it would be great if our lads had the majority of the support on the day...that will be a really important factor. If we win this win then we are only four points behind them and they can be caught."

"The week after this game we are both playing old firm teams so we are in similar situations, but following that they take on Rangers and we have Dunfermline, and we can use that to our advantage and really put the pressure on."

JJ continued: "If all goes to plan then it could all go down to the last game and there's no telling what could happen. We have it in us to get a result. The support we get from the fans could make all the difference in a crucial match like Saturdays, if they do their bit then we'll try not to let them down".

The progress we have made this season under JJ's stewardship has been nothing short of phenomenal, especially considering that he had to trim £200,000 off the wage budget, no mean feat in itself. Truth be told, player for player, Hearts are probably the third strongest team in the league which only emphasises how good a job JJ has done for us still to be in with a shout of being the third best team in Scotland at such a late stage in the season.

After receiving such a mixed reception from the Rugby Park faithful on his appointment I think we now owe it to our gaffer to give him and his squad the support on Saturday that they so richly deserve. Whether we make it into Europe or not is academic, chance is that we will probably run out of games, but things auger well for next season. It's great to see that no one has given up the ghost and at worst we will go down fighting. Jefferies has injected spirit back into Kilmarnock FC, it's now up to the fans to create a fitting atmosphere.
