KILMARNOCK chief executive David Heath
last night announced he will quit Rugby Park in the summer.
Last night Heath insisted there was nothing
sinister in his decision to quit.
He told board members yesterday of his
decision but will stay on until the summer.
Heath said...: "I always saw
this as a two or three-year job. I'm an ambitious man and want to be my
own boss one day. I have some business ideas which I will pursue.
There has been no fall out with the chairman or any other board
member. It's been frustrating but the
SPL is moving forward and the message has finally got through to
Scottish football. I will support
Kilmarnock and bought my season ticket this week."

Sir John
Orr, Chairman of Kilmarnock Football Club commented...
"David has advised the Board that he wishes to
move on to pursue other interests and we respect his decision.
The Board wish to thank David for the significant contribution that he
has made to the progress of this club during his time as Chief Executive
and a Director. I wish him well for the future. David will continue to
oversee the day to day operation of the business through the summer and
the club will use the next three months to continue an ongoing review of
the organisation structure taking account of how best to replace David's
responsibilities within the business"
Mr Heath said...
"Working for my hometown club for the last two
years has been a great honour and one that I've thoroughly enjoyed. In
the past 12 months all SPL clubs have had to come to terms with the huge
decline in
media values and the internal difficulties in the SPL and that has been
an enormous challenge. Kilmarnock FC has worked extremely hard to
successfully balance the financial and football issues during this
period and this is an enormous testament to my colleagues on the Board
and to Jim Jefferies.
I wish the club
all success in the future, but in the meantime I'm going to concentrate
on a busy summer ahead preparing for next season. I'll be working on
activities such as continuing to heavily market our groundbreaking buy
one get one free season ticket offer for next season
from which we've already exceeded two thirds of
this years season tickets".
David will be leaving the club at the end of July.
He joined the club in August 2001.
