McLaughlin Becomes A Killie Boy

ST MIRREN 's 29-year-old, defender Barry McLaughlin has signed a reported (by the Daily Record) two-year deal with a one year option at Rugby Park. Barry will undergo a medical before the end of the week. A transfer fee of £30-40,000 was also reported.

McLaughlin spent more than half his life at St Mirren, signing on as a 13 year-old schoolboy.

McLaughlin said.....: "It was a huge decision for me to leave. The lure of SPL football was too good to turn down. I hope everyone can understand."

Tom Hendrie said.... "It's really a great deal for Kilmarnock because they've signed a very good defender and our captain - but it's not a good deal for St Mirren. However, he only had a year left on his current contract and we wanted to cash in just now because we knew we would lose him for nothing next season if he stayed."

Jim Jefferies on the Fee...'That's just the way it is, I like to think I have an eye for a bargain and we do not have a lot of money to throw about. We made St Mirren an offer and it was accepted.'
