Killie Win 3 On The Bounce!

Captain Sean Dillon                                John Paul Boyle

Celtic 0 - 2 Kilmarnock
(SPL U18 Match No.5 - Friday 27th September 2002, 12.30pm Kick Off)

A battling display saw Killie make it three wins in a row, and all against teams that would be classed as some of the better sides in the league.

Youngster Martin Parker opened the scoring early on after good work down the right between McGregor and Gilroy. Gilroy got beyond his marker and cut the ball back from the by-line for Parker to slot home from six yards.

Neither keeper was really troubled with the defences standing firm but midway through the second half Killie doubled their lead through Greg Gilroy.

A free-kick wide on the right was switched across the face of the box to Captain Shaun Dillon. He held off his man and played a cute reverse pass inside the defence for Gilroy to race onto and slot calmly beyond the keeper.

Late on, John Paul Boyle almost put the game beyond any lingering doubt with a superb 30 yard striker but the Celtic goalie was able to match the effort and turned the ball over the bar with a spectacular save.

Kilmarnock: Samson, McGregor, Coyle (Sangster), Dillon, McGuiness, Gilroy, Johnson (Hamill), Gold, McGlinchey, Boyle, Parker (Campbell), Naismith.
Subs not used: Bell, Woodison.
