Killie Master Class Sees Them Through To Final

FC Kilmarnock 10 - 0 FC Hamilton
(SWLC Semi Final, 12th October 2003, 2.00pm Kick Off)

FC Kilmarnock won themselves Scottish Premier League Cup Final place with a sparkling display against FC Hamilton which saw them score ten goals without reply, Killie's first time into double figures this season and a sure sign of a real return to their best form. They will face Glasgow City who knocked out Cove Rangers by three goals to nil in the other semi.

Killie started relatively slowly and gathered momentum as the game went on, and the first half finished with them four ahead. Killie underlined their superiority in the second half though with a storming finish and they were well worthy of the final score line. New signing Nicki Grant and midfield dynamo Megan Sneddon both helped themselves to hat-tricks with Jo Love nabbing a brace for herself. Sarah Hough and Donna James also chipped in with a goal each to round of the scoring.

This was only the second match for new girls Grant and Stacey Cook, both experienced internationalists, and they seem to be settling in very well. Cook had signed for Hibs after A*r folded but decided she could do without the travelling. The homesick Grant walked out on German side FC Frankfurt, also preferring a move closer to home...which has been a real boost for the Killie squad after losing so many influential players at the end of last term. Any thoughts that Killie's dominance was on the wane have now been thoroughly dispelled!

Killie coach Jim Chapman was well chuffed with his charges, he said: "It was one of the most accomplished performances I've seen since I've been involved in women's football against a good, young Hamilton side that we could not treat lightly."

FC Kilmarnock: Johnstone, Sneddon, J. Smith, Kerr, Burns, Love, Fowler, McLaughlin, McCormack, Cook, Grant
Subs: Seers, Hough, L.Smith
