Killie have called a
press conference tomorrow (Thursday) at 10.30am and we have been led to
believe that it is to announce the signing of Aussie trialist Danny
Invincibile. After leaving Swindon Town under freedom of contract
Invincibile has been training with Killie during the pre-season and
manager Jim Jefferies has decided that the player has all the attributes
he is looking for.
Killiefc.com spoke to
JJ today after the annual squad photo shoot and he seemed very impressed
by the player and determined to get his man. He said: "The lad is
quality and exactly what we need in the squad. He is pacey in the extreme,
good in the air and
can control the ball well with either foot. I've been very happy with the
way he's performed so far and I'm keen to sign him."
He went on: "He's
keen to play at Killie and wants to make an impression and work his way
back into the national team. Money is always going to be an issue as I
have a tight budget but hopefully something can be sorted fairly soon. In
fact I'm going to talk to him now to try and tie something up so hopefully
it will go well."
It appears that the
talks went swimmingly well and Danny boy will be the latest new face at
Rugby Park to appear during the close season. Who said there would be no
new players this year then! If nothing else we've at least learned that JJ
is perfectly capable of pulling a few strings here and there and making
things happen...so we'll just have to wait and see who will be moved on
during the season to make this possible.
