Killie Sign The Invincibile Man! As we told you last night, Killie signed Aussie front man Danny Invincibile this morning before the squad left for Durham. Invincibile does not need a work permit because he holds an Italian passport. He attended today's press conference with his fiancée and was happy to answer questions fielded by the press, but as usual we never talk to the man we were all there to see, we spoke to the gaffer to see what he had to say about his latest coup - the first thing being "See, I told you two yesterday, like the Mounties I always get my man!" Jim was obviously highly delighted about Danny's twelve month deal and relayed the story of how it all came about. He said "When we found out that Danny's contract was up we got on the phone straight away and and asked him to come and see the club. We asked him to come to Italy with us, but not as a trialist, just to see how well he got on with the back room staff and the players and to see if he got a feel for Killie or not." "He had already been on trial with a club in Portugal but decided that it wasn't for him and walked away, but we knew that if he spent some time with us that we could persuade him that a move to Killie was a move in the right direction, and we were right! He could have chosen to go to several English teams, and Swindon were desperate to keep him, for a lot more money than we could offer, but the lad is keen to resume his international career, and he'll get more exposure if he does well here." "We have the experience in Gary McSwegan up front but, apart from Dargo who is still out injured, the boys below him are all very young and still learning their trade. Danny's 24 and in that respect he will fill in the gap nicely. We will probably use him more as a striker but truth be told he can drop off the front two in a 433 or play wide right or left or even an attacking central midfield role. A bit like Andy McLaren in fact, very versatile, but six years younger and that's a fact we've not overlooked." By then it was nearly midday and the gaffer had to rush off as the bus was due to leave for Durham and big Gall had arrived back with a video for the players to watch on the way there. What's the betting he hired out Crocodile Dundee? Danny should be amused if the Waltzing McSwegan song ever makes it back to the stands...but what about a song for our new signing...any suggestions? If I hear Danny Danny to the same tune McLaren used to get I'm going to throttle someone, let's get original!
