Kilmarnock chairman Sir John
Orr, the former chief constable of Strathclyde Police, said: "Supporters
need to be told, warts and all, what's going on inside their
club."
The club's benefactor, the
Moffat family, have said their financial well has run dry after
pumping £4m into Rugby Park.
"Kilmarnock's next
published accounts will show an operating loss of almost £2m. This
will follow losses of £850,000 and £1.9m during my previous two
years as chairman.
"The Moffat family
saved the club with their initial investment but we can't go on
relying on one benefactor to sustain us. That's a recipe for
disaster."
Last night supporters'
spokesman Colin "Muppet" Hargreaves pledged to
support the Killie revolution
He said: "The Killie
Supporters Trust is to be launched next week. We will go to the
Kilmarnock community in Ayrshire and do whatever we can to help the
club.
"Ultimately, we would
also like to be represented on the board at Rugby Park."
Killie even hired an
independent financial analyst to give the Supporters Trust a detailed
account of the club's current situation.
Sir John said: "You
could call it brave or refreshing but I think this has to be the way
forward for clubs trying to prove you can drive down costs and improve
your performance on the park at the same time."
