After speaking to David Lilley we turned our attention to on-loan
Frenchman Eric Skora, who missed the proverbial press conference boat last
week due to signing less than 24 hours before a match. Eric was on the
bench for the Hibs game and was introduced into the game when basically it
was all over bar the shouting. Skora is a likeable bloke with the
strangest accent on the planet, but we understood what he had to say
nonetheless!
He said: "Basically I just tried to do my own thing last week
as I didn't really have a chance to train or meet with the other players.
It is hard to determine the standard of the game in Scotland from that one
match...because it wasn't a very good game. It's very difficult to counter
a team who sit in and won't play against you, I think it will be different
when we play Celtic."
Skora had the chance to sign for Aberdeen but he opted for Killie
instead, he said: "I spoke with a representative from Aberdeen because
to be fair I did

not know anything about either club. I had the chance to go
to two or three First Division clubs but the gaffer (Craig Brown) didn't
want that. He advised me to opt for Kilmarnock because in his opinion it
is a smaller club and it would be better for my game."
He went on: "I played the full of last season and the start of
this one with Preston but the manager then changed the system and I was
spending a lot of time on the bench, and that's not much use to anyone. I
spoke to Ricardo Fuller about Scotland and he told me all about the games
and the atmosphere and reckoned it would be a good experience for
me."
Eric started his career at Nancy who despite now being in the Second
Division were in the top league when he was there. He said: "I can
remember Freddie Dindeleux from his days at Lille and know about Francois
as well, but I had never met them personally. It was David Moyes who took
me to Preston so since I've left France I've only ever played for Scottish
managers so it was about time I played up here!"
Our newest French recruit is "looking forward to the Celtic
game" and Jim Jefferies has confirmed that he is in the squad.
Here's hoping that the tabloid headlines writers will have the opportunity
of a field day come Sunday due to our recent habit of signing players with
opportune surnames. Bring on 'Invincibile Lilley Skora's For
Killie!'
