There are some draws that feel like wins, and there are some draws
that feel like losses. This result clearly feels like the latter!
At home 2-1 up against bottom of the league Caley, who were down to 10
men, this is a disastrous result. Killie now have to play Motherwell on
Weds, who will be "smarting" from their own result today, at Fir Park
and then host an "in-form" Hibs next Sat. It will be interesting to see
how the season unfolds after today's "result"
Stephen Murray shot the home side into an early lead (above) but
Inverness were on level terms when Barry Wilson's strike found the net
via a large deflection.
Gordon Greer's impressive volley put Killie ahead again before
half-time and the visitors lost a man after 50 minutes when Stuart
McCaffrey saw red.
But Killie failed to take advantage and Fox struck in the 83rd
minute.
Before kick off there was a minute's silence in memory of
Jackie
McGrory, who played in Killie's
1964-65 league-winning
side and died earlier in the month.
There was an early chance for Caley Thistle when Greer headed a
clearance straight to Wilson but the winger miskicked from 20 yards to
send the ball hopelessly wide.

A few minutes later and the home side were in front when Murray was
picked out by Craig Dargo and the little winger drilled a powerful shot
under Mark Brown at his near post.
But the visitors were level in the 15th minute when Wilson played a
one-two with Roy McBain from a corner and fired home via a huge
deflection off Danny Invincibile.
Three minutes later, Wilson was presented with a clear sight of goal
from 15 yards but his rasping drive went wide.
Killie were back in front in the 27th minute when Gordon Greer
smashed a
thunderous 20-yard volley past the helpless Brown after McBain had done
well to block a Dargo shot in the box.
There was a chance for Killie striker Kris Boyd when a cross from the
left from Murray fell kindly to him in the box but McCaffrey slid in to
block the shot, with the ball looping up for Brown to catch.
Home goalkeeper Alan Combe was called upon to make a fine save diving
to his left to catch a rasping 25-yard drive from Stuart Golabek from a
free-kick move.
McCaffrey again came to his side's rescue when Killie sprang the
offside trap by preventing Invincibile setting Boyd up for a tap-in.
Inverness were dealt a huge blow in the 50th minute when McCaffrey
was shown a straight red card for clipping the heels of Craig Dargo.
Referee Craig Mackay's verdict was a controversial one as the striker
still had plenty of ground to cover before even reaching the penalty
box.
Brown denied Invincibile with a save after the Australian had been
put clear by a ball over the top of a stretched Caley Thistle back line.
And Brown made a good block to stop a powerful angled shot from
Murray.
But Kilmarnock paid the price for not killing off their opponents
when Wilson's searching pass found Fox racing into the penalty area and
the former Hearts youngster sent in a shot from six yards.
Killie did have a couple of late goal mouth flurries in the closing
moments, but they had clearly already let 2 very valuable points
slip-away.
