 Dodgy Penalty Sinks Killie

 Dundee 1 Kilmarnock 0

(SPL Match 31, Dens Park, Apr 2nd  2005, KO: 3:00PM)

Kilmarnock managed to put Dundee under pressure when Steven Naismith's cross found Danny Invincibile but he could only manage a weak effort under pressure and the shot was easily held by goalkeeper Derek Soutar.

A burst of energy from Dundee's McManus breathed some life into a lethargic game.

The forward raced down the right flank before squaring into the path of the unmarked Stephen Robb but his effort was just off target and fell harmlessly past the post.

Shortly before half-time, Killie made a push for the opener when Naismith tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the area but Soutar gathered comfortably.

The second half started with Kilmarnock's Gary McDonald going close with a header from Peter Leven's corner before Colin Nish set up Boyd for a volley that was easily held by Soutar.

Dundee were awarded a penalty when Barrett was hauled down by Lilley.

Lovell stepped up for the spot-kick and made sure the net was left bulging.

Killie 'keeper Combe then made a marvellous save to stop a powerful shot from McManus.

Kris Boyd was denied a late equaliser by the woodwork, his header crashing off the crossbar and going over.

Seconds later, Stevie Murray's shot was headed off the line by Wilkie as Dundee picked up three valuable points
