 Gary Mac "Saint & Sinner"

 Inverness CT 1 Kilmarnock 2

(SPL Match 35, Caledonian Stadium, Inverness, Apr 30th  2005, KO: 3:00PM)

Craig Dargo replaced the injured Kris Boyd up front, with Danny Invincibile filling in for Gordon Greer.

Dargo, who scored last weekend, was just too high with an instant lob from 10 yards out.

A Stuart Golabek shot was deflected wide and player-boss Craig Brewster headed over then forced Alan Combe into a save.

Bryan Prunty headed home a cross from Ian Black but was ruled offside.

Gary McDonald opened the scoring at the other end with a back-post finish that goalkeeper Mark Brown could not stop crossing the line.

Caley were back in the game when referee Eddie Smith awarded a penalty from a Barry Wilson corner, a tug on Darren Dodds' jersey by scorer McDonald being the most likely explanation.

Ross Tokely slotted home from the spot.

Wilson blasted an early chance over after being set up by Prunty.

Wilson blocked from Leven in the box after Greer's long throw had caused Caley Thistle problems.

Inverness substitute Graham Bayne put a free header wide from a Wilson corner that found him at the back post.

Billy Brown leading the team today, as manager Jefferies was away scouting players for next season, was forced into an early 2nd half sub replacing poor Craig Dargo, with Colin Nish after only 54 mins.

Referee Smith awarded Killie a penalty after Gary Locke had floated a free-kick into the box.

McDonald met it with his head and the official seemingly ruled that he had been pushed.

Peter Leven  stepped up to stroke the ball into the bottom left corner of the net to put Killie ahead, after 72 mins. (above)

Fowler burst through into the box but was denied by a fine parry from Brown.

Somehow, Killie survived an amazing scrape in 79 minutes when Caley Thistle struck the woodwork THREE times.

Dods' pass sent Brewster into the box on the right and his low-cut shot struck the inside of the post.

Bayne's header on the rebound struck the bar as did Bryan Prunty's volley before Wilson's follow-up was held by Combe

Kilmarnock: Combe, Fowler, Lilley, Dindeleux, Hay, Invincibile, (Greer 60 mins), Locke,  McDonald, Dargo (Nish 54 mins)  Wales, Leven (Johnston 85 mins)

Subs: Smith, Dodds, Naismith

Attendance: 3,108
