Sunday 24th April...
Was the Forty Year Anniversary of Kilmarnock Football Club's greatest day!
On April 24, 1965, Killie headed to Tynecastle with all the odds
were stacked against them. They were two points behind their rivals on 48 pts to Hearts 50 pts with goals average reading 1.81 and 1.91. The goal average was calculated on the number of goals scored divided by the number of goals conceded.
Kilmarnock had to win, and away from home, by two goals to take the league flag to Ayrshire for the first time. Win they did, brilliantly, bravely, skillfully,
as David Sneddon and Brian McIlroy scored the most vital goals in the history of the club. Then of course there was Bobby Ferguson's title winning save near the end....all magical! Dreams had come true. Kilmarnock Football Club were the champions of Scotland.

That's what happened first, and then when it came in Alan (Combe) came for it and his path was blocked off. It's cost us a couple of points we felt we deserved."

Jim Jefferies on the "top 6" run-in...." 60,000 may not sound like an awful lot in football terms. Especially when you see the amount of money some players are on at the bigger clubs. That might only be enough to pay the wage of a top player for a couple of weeks but at clubs like Kilmarnock, Motherwell or Inverness that could be the difference between us being able to buy or keep one player for a whole season."  - More

Saturday 14th August... Baz's Celtic Post Match Commentary ...."I'd like to say well done to the team yesterday on a fighting performance. I have no doubt in my mind that Mike 'Chicken' McCurry cost us the game because he was frightened to treat both teams the same and he should never referee a Killie v Shellsuit game again. It is bad enough that we can't compete with the old firm due to our unwillingness to profit from sectarianism but what chance does anyone have when refereeing in Scotland is so blatantly biased? Pissed off? You betcha!" ....baz
